Lucia Felstead has been working for Sanctuary Personnel for several years, having initially begun working with the company’s finance team as an apprentice in 2011. Since then, Lucia has not only completed a Level 2 and Level 3 qualification in Business & Administration, but she has also completed an NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service and has been busy working her way through the various AAT accountancy qualifications.
Lucia was encouraged to sign up for an apprenticeship after deciding that sixth form wasn’t the best option for her. She was keen to begin earning her own money with a company she could see herself progressing in; therefore the apprenticeship scheme offered a flexible alternative. After Sanctuary’s apprenticeship academy was recommended by a friend, Lucia began working for the company and has never looked back!
She said: “I really didn’t want to remain at school, and this seemed like a really good option for me. I liked the idea of working in the centre of Ipswich and it was great to have a recommendation from someone I know who had previously completed an apprenticeship and loved it. Looking back, it was definitely a great decision, if I hadn’t done this; I would have either been unhappy at college or working in a low-paid job doing something I wasn’t particularly interested in.”
Since completing her initial apprenticeship, Lucia has gone on to complete further qualifications and currently works as a Accounts Payable Supervisor in the company’s extremely busy finance team.
She continued: “My biggest achievement is being given a permanent role here – I’ve now worked here for over five years and have just purchased my first house! I’ve gained so much experience and look forward to progressing my career with Sanctuary even further.”
