Jordan Seaman is a fantastic example of how the national apprenticeship scheme can prepare young people for a successful career. After joining the company as an apprentice in 2009 and winning Apprentice of the Year in 2010, his skills and expertise (developed throughout his career at Sanctuary) have seen him rise through the company to be named Head of Candidate Experience.
Jordan completed his Level 2 apprenticeship in Business & Administration whilst working in the marketing team. The experience he gained throughout his apprenticeship has given him the tools to successfully manage a team of nine; five of who are apprentices.
“I’ve been working at Sanctuary for seven years and the skills I learnt throughout my apprenticeship have continually helped me throughout my career."
Sanctuary works hard to ensure that every apprentice gets the most out of their experience and will always recognise and reward those who are working hard.
“Since completing my apprenticeship, I’ve been rewarded with several promotions; my initial role as Marketing Administrator progressed to that of Marketing Co-ordinator, and in 2014 I was named Head of Candidate Experience. My time as an apprentice has helped me hugely as I am now managing a team of new apprentices, so I am able to understand their strengths and weaknesses, allowing me to set realistic targets.”
Since completing his apprenticeship, the company has further invested in Jordan’s career, paying for him to complete a Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Introductory Certificate in Marketing. He has also been rewarded for his hard work and twice received an annual ‘High Achiever’ award, as well as the prestigious ‘Employee of the Year’ award and is currently working towards his Level 4 Management Diploma.
A firm supporter of the apprenticeship scheme, Jordan says: “The scheme is a fantastic way for young people to gain experience in a working environment and can be a great stepping stone towards a career. The company offers unbeatable career opportunities to anyone who has the commitment and motivation to work hard. I would highly recommend an apprenticeship with Sanctuary to anyone.”
